NAM NIC Install [[This info was provided by Anthony at HSI, Inc. (866) 224-4474 in Fort Myers, FL. Great guy, great company, exellent equipment supplier!]] If you have an older NAM that has no NIC one can be installed. There are three NIC's that are officially "authorized" for use. The easiest to find being the 3 Com EtherLink III 3C509B-C. I found five online for $5.00. In order for you to install the NIC you must first install the VGA card. Here are the steps to complete this entire task... STEP 1: Feature 915. PSWD: access2. Go to ADMIN and hit next until you see Monitor PKG. Press view and type in the password SVGANEEDED. Exit programming. STEP 2: Shut down the NAM and remove the front cover. STEP 3: You will see 9 dip switches. Make sure that 1,2,3,8, & 9 are all to the left. STEP 4: Insert the SVGA card in slot 5. (It should be the last slot to the right.) STEP 5: Connect your monitor, mouse, & keyboard. STEP 6: Turn on the NAM. If you see the system booting up on the monitor you in! STEP 7: Once the system is completely booted up (You'll see the OS/2 desktop and here the "beeos of joy" from the NAM) click on "OS/2 Window". This will bring up a command prompt. Type MPTS to briong up the protocal manager. STEP 8: Remove all the protocols installed in the bottom windows. STEP 9: Exit and close all the way out. STEP 10: Shut down the NAM. STEP 11: Insert the NIC in slot one (The furthest to the left.) STEP 12: Turn on the NAM. Let it completely boot up. STEP 13: Insert your Driver disk in the floppy drive. Click on the "OS/2 Window" and type a: at the command prompt. STEP 14: Type 3c5x9cfg.exe to run the autoconfig program. When the program comes up make sure to turn off Plug-N-Play (PNP) before you continue. Once disabled run the autoconfig function. Once the card is configured run the test program to make sure the card is working properly. Once that's done exit the program. STEP 15: At the command prompt type tcpcfg. This will open the network configuration program. Type in the ip you wan the NAM to be as well as the subnetmask. Exit the program. STEP 16: At the command prompt type Mpts. Once in the program select etherlink III Family. Click add. STEP 17: In the windows on the right select the IBM netbios and IBM TCP/IP protocals. make sure they show up at the bottom. Close out of the program. STEP 18: Reboot the NAM. Hopefully you will be able to ping the NAM. If so, try to connect via Voicemail Manager. Hope it works! - Ed Forero The Central Intelligence Group (954) 346-5008 voice (954) 827-0633 FAX edforero@centralintel.com http://www.centralintel.com
